PVC Is one of the most widely used plastics, and the PVC material is a non-crystalline material, non-toxic and odorless white powder. The density of PVC plastic is 1.40 g/cm3, and the density of PVC plastic with plasticizer and filler is usually 1.15-2.00g/cm3, with a vitrification temperature of 87℃ and a melting point of 160-212℃. The degree of polymerization of industrially produced PVC is between 500 and 2000.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), full name polyvinyl chloride, is a widely used synthetic polymer plastic, composed of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) polymerization by radical polymerization mechanism of polymer. PVC Is divided into hard (sometimes abbreviated as RPVC) and soft, according to the application requirements can be added with plasticizer to make it soft or keep hard.

The production of PVC mainly adopts the suspension polymerization method, which accounts for about 80% of the total production of PVC. In the suspension polymerization method, the monomer is dispersed in the aqueous phase in microdroplets, the oil soluble initiator is dissolved in the monomer, and the polymerization is carried out in these droplets. In addition, there are emulsion polymerization method and bulk polymerization method and other production processes.

PVC The mechanical properties of plastics depend on the relative molecular mass of the polymer, the content of plasticizer and filler. In general, the packing content increases and its tensile strength decreases. The PVC without plasticizer is hard plastic, filled with plasticizer, softness, elongation, cold resistance increase, vitrification temperature, brittleness, hardness, tensile strength are reduced.

PVC Start to soften at 65-85℃, over 170℃ becomes a sticky flow state, and 140℃ begins a small amount of decomposition. The decomposition speed increases with the temperature increase, and a large amount of HCL gas is released above 190℃. PVC Chlorine content up to 56%, thus has flame retardant and self-extinguishing; and has good dielectric properties, is excellent electrical insulation material. In addition, PVC is a polymer with poor thermal stability, which can gradually decompose and release HCl under the action of light and heat. At the same time, in the presence of force, oxygen, ozone, cyanide chloride and some active metals (such as copper, zinc, etc.) ions, the degradation speed is greatly accelerated.

PVC After removing HCl, conjugated double bonds were formed on the backbone, and the color of the resin changed. Because the hydrogen chloride is released during PVC thermal decomposition, and the released HCl also plays a catalytic role in the degradation of PVC, further accelerating its degradation speed, therefore, some alkaline substances are often added as stabilizers to prevent the thermal degradation of PVC. Nevertheless, the melt mobility of RPVC is still poor, and large injection pressure is required, and in order to avoid melt rupture, low speed injection should be used in molding.

PVC Water absorption is small, usually less than 0.1%, the requirements are not high products, not dry before forming.

In order to reduce the corrosion of the equipment and mold by the decomposed HCl gas during the PVC processing, the equipment and mold must choose anti-corrosion metal materials and do the corresponding anti-corrosion work.
