PVC-U is a Plastic Material that adds certain additives (such as stabilizer, lubricant, fillers, etc.) to PVC raw materials and is mixed and modified with other resins.

Features of the PVC-U:

Process characteristics of the PVC-U

(1) No obvious melting point, more than 60℃ will become soft, 100-150℃ is sticky and elastic state, more than 150℃ is a sticky flow state, the decomposition temperature of PVC-U mixture rarely exceeds 200℃.

(2) Poor thermal stability, whether in time or temperature, can lead to the decomposition of PVC-U, so the molding temperature and the residence time of the material in the material cylinder should be strictly controlled.

(3) In PVC-U, despite the additive, its mobility is still poor, so it is difficult to fill the melt with the mold cavity in a very short time, therefore, higher injection pressure and lower injection rate.

(4) Because the processing process inevitably to produce decomposition, release HCl gas, therefore, do a good job of anti-corrosion work of the equipment.

(5) The brittleness of the products is large.

(6) PVC Melting temperature is a very important process parameter during processing. If this parameter is not appropriate, it will lead to the problem of material decomposition.

(7) The flow characteristics of PVC are quite poor, and its process range is very narrow, especially the large molecular weight PVC material is more difficult to process (this material is usually added with lubricant to improve the flow characteristics), so the small molecular weight PVC material is usually used.

(8) The shrinkage rate of PVC is quite low, generally at 0.6-1.0%.

(9) When the forming temperature is too high, chlorine gas is easy to decompose, and chlorine gas combines with water vapor in the air to form hydrochloric acid, which is easy to corrode the surface of the mold cavity.
