Solutions to burn products during injection molding

Plastic product burn refers to the injection-molding products in the process of injection-molding, the surface or internal due to thermal damage and dark or gray spots, the surface becomes brittle and other bad phenomena. 1. Cause of the burns

l Mechanical reasons

Due to the abnormal conditions of the material cylinder overheating, the resin is decomposed at high temperature and injected into the product after burn.

The nozzle in the material cylinder and the screw thread, check valve and other parts of the resin stagnation flow, decomposition and discoloration into the products, in the products with black and brown burning scars.

l Mold reason

Poor mold exhaust, resulting in gas accumulation inside the mold, forming a high temperature area, causing product burns, which generally occur in a fixed place.

l Causes of forming conditions

High back pressure (if over 300MPa) caused the cylinder part to overheat and cause burns.

The screw speed is too high to cause overheating.

With no exhaust tank or a small exhaust tank, a high injection speed can cause superheated gas burns.

2. The Solution

l Mechanical reasons

Check the temperature of the material cylinder, nozzle, screw and other parts regularly to ensure that they work within the normal range.

Clean the nozzle, screw and material cylinder regularly to remove the possible residual resin and impurities, and avoid its decomposition and discoloration.

l Mold reason

Improve mold design, increase exhaust tank or exhaust rod, improve the exhaust performance of mold.

Check the exhaust system of the mold regularly to ensure that it is unimpeded.

l Causes of forming conditions

Adjust the back pressure reasonably to avoid excessive overheating of the material cylinder.

Control the screw speed within the appropriate range (e. g. 40 ~ 90 r/min) to avoid overheating. At high injection speeds, ensure that the mold is provided with sufficient exhaust tanks or exhaust rods to reduce superheated gas production.
